High Pressure Chemistry Pressure is an important dimension controlling the chemical reactions and producing novel materials. Under high pressure atoms tend to bond to more atoms, and the weak interactions like hydrogen bonds becomes stronger and tend to introduce chemical reactions. The products of the reactions are often scarcely observed in normal conditions and thus attracted investigations on their structures and properties. This symposium will focus on the chemical reactions and phase transitions of soft and hard materials under high pressure, as well as the novel materials synthesized. The topics will include but not limited to:
* Molecules packing * Molecule configurations and conformations * Hydrogen bond and hydrogen transfer * Pressure induced polymerization and amorphization * Covalent bond forming and breaking * Reaction mechanism * Carbon materials * Ionic conductors * Polymers * Solutions Dr. Kuo Li, HPSTAR, likuo@hpstar.ac.cn Roberto Bini
