Reactions in the Diamond Anvil Cell
Inducing reactions by laser heating in the diamond anvil cell has led to the discovery of numerous novel phases, such as many previously unknown nitrides, carbides and borides with unusual structural features and physical properties. This focus session is dedicated to state-of-the-art laser heating experiments aimed at synthesizing new compounds and characterizing their structures and properties by diffraction and spectroscopic methods.
