Metastable Materials
Metastable materials could be a potential goldmine for next-generation materials. Metastable materials with extraordinary properties and/or superb performance have been enthusiastically pursued, through theoretical design and/or experimental synthesis. Pressure, together with temperature and nanoscale effects, provides a wider dimension to deeply pursue novel metastable materials. This symposium mainly focuses on the recent high-pressure synthesis of novel C, Si, Ge, B-C-N, and unexpected compounds/phases (KCl3, XeFe3, MgO2, Na2He, NaH3, NaH7, CN, high-entropy alloy, etc.) with unusual chemical structures and physical properties. This symposium will provide an extensive discussion on the current achievements and future targets of synthesis of new metastable structural/functional materials by the advanced high-pressure technology.
